Kawai Nui Marsh is a wetland located in Kailua, Oahu. It's the largest freshwater wetland in the state of Hawaii. Kawai Nui looks like a forest when you first enter, but when you go deeper in, it looks like a bowl full of water with a thick layer of vegetation on top. Kawai Nui means huge fresh water bowl. It is very important to Kailua community because it helps to control floods. Kawai Nui is a large, significant home for Hawaii's plants and animals. Kawai Nui is very important because it has several endangered animals that are very important to Hawaii's culture and wildlife.
