Duke Kahanamoku Statue
Duke Kahanamoku was one of the first big wave riders in the world and was also a gold medal olympic swimmer. With these accomplishments, Duke became known as a "Hawaiian Legend". In 1966, Duke was the first person to be inducted into the Surfing Hall of Fame. A yearly surfing contest, the Duke Kahanamoku International Surfing Championship Meet, is held in memory of this surfing legend.
